Horror Game News 6th June 2025

Hold onto your controllers, horror fans—this week’s lineup is wilder than a midnight séance in a haunted house! We’ve got psychological chills, pixel-powered battles, and adventures where your instincts are the only map. Ready to face the unknown? Let’s get into it!

Dead Take: Exposing the Dark Side of the Entertainment Industry

Surgent Studios, the acclaimed team behind Tales of Kenzera: ZAU, has teamed up with Pocketpair Publishing to reveal their next title, Dead Take. This upcoming first-person psychological horror game pulls back the curtain on the entertainment industry’s dark underbelly, inviting players to uncover the monstrous cost of fame and creation.

In Dead Take, you play as an actor searching for a missing friend who disappeared after a glamorous party at a lavish mansion. As you explore the now-silent, opulent estate, you’ll solve object-based puzzles and piece together video clips to unravel the mystery of what happened—and just how far a powerful executive will go to protect his legacy. Along the way, you’ll encounter eerie, humanlike figures and confront the unsettling realities of the entertainment world, from sordid gossip and broken dreams to the shadowy figures who hold the keys to success.

Dead Take teases a gripping, single-player narrative shaped by real experiences in the industry, with a chilling original score by composer Ross Tregenza and meticulously crafted 3D environments inspired by real film sets. The game is set to launch this year on PC via Steam, and players can wishlist it now. With its blend of psychological tension, immersive storytelling, and a subject matter that promises to provoke thought and discussion, Dead Take is shaping up to be a strong choice for horror fans and anyone morbidly curious about the dark side of show business.

BloodRush: Undying Wish – Pixel Art Action with a Stylish, Gothic Twist

Launching in early access on Steam this July—and later on PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch—BloodRush: Undying Wish from Lightmancer Studios is a frenetic action game that’s quickly earned the nickname “Bloodborne in pixel art.” But don’t let the comparison fool you: while BloodRush shares a gothic aesthetic and a love for stylish combat, its gameplay is all about improvisation, combo-building, and expressive play.

In BloodRush, you play as the Stranger, tasked with restoring Death to a world where it’s mysteriously gone missing. The result? A world where nothing dies, and chaos rules. To set things right, you’ll battle through eight unique arenas, each packed with different mechanics, enemies, and bosses from the Cult of Eternity. Combat is fast, fluid, and deeply rewarding, encouraging you to chain together attacks, dash between foes, and recover health by stylishly executing enemies.

The game offers a huge array of weapons, abilities, and upgrades, letting you craft your own playstyle and experiment with new builds on every run. A haunting, gothic soundtrack and beautifully detailed pixel art bring the world to life, while the story unfolds through multiple runs, revealing more about Death’s imprisonment and the motivations of her captors.

A playable demo is available now on Steam, giving you a taste of BloodRush’s stylish action and deep customization. Whether you’re a fan of fast-paced combat, roguelike progression, or gothic horror, BloodRush: Undying Wish is one to watch—and play—when it launches this summer. Death may be missing, but the action is very much alive!

Hell Is Us: Immersive Action-Adventure with a Mysterious Twist

Step into a world where instinct and discovery reign—Hell is Us is now offering an exclusive demo on Steam, available until June 16th, with a special showcase at Steam Next Fest from June 9. Developed by Rogue Factor and published by NACON, this third-person action-adventure invites players to leave behind the comforts of mini-maps, GPS, and quest markers in favour of a truly immersive experience.

In Hell is Us, you play as Rémi, a protagonist searching for his origins in a country torn apart by civil war and a mysterious supernatural calamity. The land’s isolation conceals a dark secret: the sudden appearance of strange creatures resembling ancient monuments and headstones. Armed with specially forged weapons and a loyal drone, Rémi must navigate treacherous terrain, relying on his instincts and observation to survive and unravel the mysteries around him.

The demo features the entire first chapter, offering at least 90 minutes of gameplay—and even more for those eager to uncover hidden secrets. Hell is Us is designed for players who crave adventure and challenge, combining intense melee combat with thoughtful exploration. The game’s unique “Player-Plattering” system encourages you to follow your curiosity, rewarding reflection and discovery in a semi-open world filled with danger and intrigue.

Hell is Us launches on September 4th, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC—promising a mature, memorable adventure for those who dare to embrace the unknown.

That’s a wrap on this week’s whirlwind of thrills and mysteries! Whether you’re slashing through monsters, solving sinister puzzles, or just trying to find your way without a compass, every great adventure starts with a brave step into the dark. Stay tuned to Fearzine Magazine for all your horror updates, and remember to keep your lights on!
