Horror Game News 16th May 2025
“We all go a little mad sometimes.” – Psycho. If you’re a fan of horror, this week’s gaming news is packed with reasons to feed your pets after midnight! From a chilling new arrival on Xbox, to a collector’s dream Silent Hill 2 vinyl, and a Dead by Daylight update that’s bringing together icons from Five Nights at Freddy’s and The Witcher, there’s something here to haunt every player’s dreams. Let’s get into it!
Gore Doctor Brings Psychological Horror and Gore to Xbox
The doors to the institute have opened once again- Gore Doctor, the acclaimed psychological horror from Salient Games, is now available on Xbox Series X|S as of May 13th. Previously earning a 93% positive rating on Steam, this first-person survival horror plunges players into the decaying corridors of a ruined institute, where a desperate doctor’s obsession with saving his terminally ill wife has given rise to grotesque experiments and unspeakable horrors.
As a lone survivor, you’ll have to fight for your life against the doctor’s monstrous creations, all while solving nightmarish puzzles and piecing together the tragic story through scattered notes and artifacts. The game’s grim atmosphere is amplified by dark visuals and an eerie soundtrack, immersing you in a world where every shadow could conceal a new terror.
Gore Doctor stands out for its blend of exploration, combat, and brain-teasing puzzles, never shying away from brutal violence and claustrophobic tension. With its arrival on Xbox, console players can finally experience the chilling descent into madness that has gripped PC gamers since last year. PlayStation 5 owners won’t have to wait long either- the game launches on PS5 on May 27th.
If you’re ready to confront the horrors lurking behind every door, Gore Doctor’s Institute is open for therapy- just don’t expect to leave unscathed!
Silent Hill 2 (2024) Soundtrack Gets Deluxe Vinyl Release
The fog is rolling in for vinyl collectors and horror fans: Silent Hill 2 (2024) is getting a deluxe vinyl treatment courtesy of Konami Digital Entertainment and Laced Records. Pre-orders are now open for two stunning editions- the Limited Edition 6LP box set and the Exclusive Edition double LP- each capturing the haunting atmosphere of Bloober Team’s acclaimed remake.
The 6LP box set is a true collector’s dream, featuring the complete, re-recorded 93-track soundtrack by legendary composer Akira Yamaoka. Pressed on limited edition opaque brown and red heavyweight vinyl, the set comes housed in a rigid slipcase with a ribbon pull, printed inner sleeves, and a 32-page art book packed with exclusive liner notes from Yamaoka himself. For those seeking a more curated experience, the double LP offers 27 essential tracks, sequenced by Yamaoka and pressed on milky clear heavyweight vinyl, with artwork by Bloober Team.
Yamaoka’s reimagined score blends trip-hop, industrial rock, and dark ambience, perfectly complementing the remake’s psychological horror. As Yamaoka himself notes, returning to Silent Hill 2 after nearly a quarter-century was both a challenge and a privilege, and the result is a soundtrack that feels both familiar and refreshingly new.
Both editions are set to ship in October 2025, with prices at £125 for the 6LP box set and £36 for the double LP. For fans of survival horror and video game music alike, this is a must-have slice of Silent Hill history to add to your collection.
Dead by Daylight Welcomes Five Nights at Freddy’s and The Witcher in Anniversary Update
Dead by Daylight is celebrating its ninth anniversary with two of the most exciting crossovers in its history, bringing both Five Nights at Freddy’s and The Witcher into the Fog for the first time. Headlining this year’s anniversary chapter, the most requested license in Dead by Daylight’s history finally arrives: Springtrap, the infamous animatronic from Five Nights at Freddy’s, becomes the game’s newest Killer. This marks the first time Springtrap is playable in any game, and fans can look forward to a Legendary “Yellow Rabbit” outfit voiced and modeled by Matthew Lillard, who portrayed William Afton in the FNAF movie adaptation.
Alongside Springtrap, players will get to stalk or survive within a brand-new map based on Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, packed with Easter eggs and surprises for FNAF fans. More details about Springtrap’s powers and gameplay are set to be revealed in an upcoming official livestream, but Behaviour Interactive promises plenty of jumpscares and authentic FNAF horror for Dead by Daylight’s ever-growing roster.
The anniversary update also includes a Witcher Collection, featuring a Legendary Geralt outfit for survivor Vittorio Toscano- complete with new voice lines recorded by Doug Cockle, Geralt’s original voice actor- as well as outfits inspired by Yennefer, Ciri, Triss, and Eredin. With new collaborations, maps, and cosmetics, Dead by Daylight’s ninth year is shaping up to be its most ambitious yet, giving horror fans and crossover enthusiasts plenty to look forward to this summer.
That’s all for this week’s horror highlights. Whether you’re braving new terrors, revisiting FNAF characters or spinning classic soundtracks, remember to stay tuned to Fearzine Magazine for all your horror updates and to keep your lights on!
