Horror Game News 21st June 2025

This week’s horror gaming roundup is packed with eerie expansions, bloodthirsty vampires, and tactical soulslike battles. Whether you’re diving into deep-sea mysteries, ruling the undead, or cleansing corrupted realms, there’s a particular brand of nightmare fuel here for every kind of horror fan. Let’s get into it!

Still Wakes the Deep: Siren’s Rest – A Chilling Epilogue in the Depths

The nightmare beneath the North Sea isn’t over yet. Still Wakes the Deep: Siren’s Rest, a major story expansion for the BAFTA-winning narrative horror, is out now for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC. Set eleven years after the original, Siren’s Rest puts you in the diving suit of Mhairi, a saturation diver leading a crew to the wreck of the Beira D oil rig—now a rusted tomb on the ocean floor.

Armed with a crowbar, cutting torch, and camera, you’ll explore the labyrinthine, claustrophobic corridors of the sunken rig, piecing together the final moments of its doomed crew. The expansion leans hard into deep-sea dread, swapping the original’s disaster horror for a slower, more investigative experience that’s heavy on exploration and psychological tension. As you photograph remains and collect mementos, you’ll confront not just the physical dangers of the wreck, but the creeping paranoia and unreliable memories that haunt survivors and families alike.

Siren’s Rest stands out for its atmosphere—crushing darkness, groaning steel, and a sense of isolation that’s as much about grief as it is about monsters. The new cast, led by Lois Chimimba as Mhairi, delivers strong performances, and the writing, from Sagar Beroshi and Emma Beeby, offers a thoughtful, emotional coda to the original’s story. While the DLC is short (about 90 minutes to two hours), it’s a well-paced, disturbing journey that brings closure to the Beira D tragedy and delivers a fresh dose of maritime horror for returning fans.

If you loved the original’s blend of Scottish swearing, folklore, oil rig claustrophobia, and Lovecraftian terror, Siren’s Rest is a haunting return to the depths—one that doesn’t want to let you come up for air!

Vampires: Bloodlord Rising – Sink Your Teeth Into Sinister New Gameplay

Get ready to embrace the darkness—Vampires: Bloodlord Rising has just unveiled a brand new gameplay trailer, showing off the supernatural thrills awaiting players later this year. The trailer (see above) teases a deliciously wicked variety of vampiric abilities. Glide across the vast landscape as a bat, battle relentless inquisitors, and grow your undead lineage by bestowing the “Kiss of Eternity” on unsuspecting villagers—or simply feed to satisfy your thirst for blood. As you build your towering castle and expand your influence, you’ll encounter a cast of intriguing characters, including Reveka, the enigmatic Queen of the Night, whose motives remain shrouded in mystery.

Vampires: Bloodlord Rising promises a rich blend of open world exploration, castle-building, and supernatural action. Whether you prefer to rule with charm or terror, the choice is yours as you carve your path to power. The game is set to launch in Early Access for PC on October 23rd, 2025, so get ready to rise from the grave and stake your claim in the world of the undead.

Netherworld Covenant – Soulslike Roguelike Action Arrives in Early Access

Earlier this week, Netherworld Covenant stepped into the spotlight, offering players a gruesome melting pot of tactical, soulslike combat and roguelike progression. Developed by MadGoat and published by Infini Fun, this atmospheric action roguelike is now available in Early Access on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

In Netherworld Covenant, you wield the Nether Lantern—a forbidden artefact that bridges the worlds of the living, the dead, and the undead. Every run is a tense, strategic dance: you’ll face off against decrepit knights and soul-devouring horrors, mastering stamina management to dodge, parry, and strike at just the right moment. The game’s combat is deliberate and punishing, rewarding careful timing and tactical thinking.

As you progress, you’ll unlock ghostly special abilities, adapt your playstyle, and push deeper into corrupted realms in your quest to cleanse the worlds of their blight. With its haunting atmosphere and challenging mechanics, Netherworld Covenant is a must-try for fans of soulslike action and roguelike replayability. If you’re on the fence, then why not check out their free demo first. The only thing you have to lose is your nerve!

That’s it for this week’s descent into the darkest corners of gaming. From haunted oil rigs to gothic castles and shadowy battlefields, these new releases promise to keep you peeking through your fingers.
